Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience
Conservative Christian leaders unveiled a declaration Friday calling on Christians not to comply with rules and laws forcing them to accept abortion, same-sex marriage and other ideals that go against their religious doctrines.
Dear Friends,
Last Friday at the National Press Club in
Washington, DC, a coalition of Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians
publicly declared their support for the sanctity of human life, the sacredness
of the natural family, and the importance of religious freedom.
This
public witness for truth is called the Manhattan
Declaration, and you can view the entire Declaration here.
How
providential that on Friday, when the United States Senate was getting ready to
begin debate on a healthcare bill that includes an aggressive assault against
human life, these brave men and women were standing--quite literally a few
blocks away--defending Truth?
More than 150 Christian
leaders, including professors, pastors, clergy, cardinals, political activists,
and media professionals signed the document.
The Manhattan Declaration truly reached
over denominational lines to stand for the Truth.
