What about vestigial organs like the appendix, or the gill-slits in fetuses? CERTAINLY you can’t mean to suggest that that makes more sense given theism than evolution, can you?!

Actually, vestial organs are exactly what one would expect to find if Christianity is true.  The Bible is quite explicit in setting forth the inherent degeneration taking place within the created order as compared to the incorruptible God (see, for example, Psalm 102:25-27).  Thus the fact (if it is a fact) that particular anatomical structures exist for which no biological purpose can be found (which Christians would interpret as the result of the curse upon creation brought about by the fall of man) is not at all surprising, and therefore should not incline us one way or the other in terms of the creation vs. evolution debate.
